What We Do

Ohio Clinicians for Climate Action was founded by physicians who recognized that their oath to do no harm encompassed more than just the patients they treat. They joined a growing national movement of clinicians and health professionals who recognize that climate change is already impacting the health of the patients and communities they serve.

Our Mission

Advocate for positive solutions to climate change which promote better health and greater equity for our patients and communities.

Our Vision

A network of clinicians engaged in advocacy and education to advance equitable climate solutions to protect Ohioans’ health and support a just and sustainable future.

Our Values

  • As healthcare professionals, the health and well-being of people will always come first.

  • We advocate for impactful policy solutions that are forward-thinking and rooted in science.

  • We inform patients, colleagues, policymakers, and the public on the health harms of climate change, and promote climate change mitigation or adaptation solutions to benefit all.

  • Working together to amplify our collective voices will help us be heard by those who enact climate change solutions.

  • Climate change impacts everyone, regardless of political affiliation, and we will engage with anyone willing to advance the climate justice cause for the betterment of public health.

  • Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, low-income communities, and others who have been historically marginalized or discriminated against are harmed disproportionately by climate change.

In our climate work, OCCA will support equitable measures that advance climate justice and address health disparities.
